ASM leadership elected a new president, board and council members, which will start serving their term on July 1, 2021.
Among the new members, ASM elected Colleen Kraft as president, according to a press release from ASM.
Kraft is a medical director of microbiology at Emory medical Laboratories at Emory Healthcare.
Ron Xavier, ministry for Primary Industries, and Kara Levinson, deputy director at Tennessee State Public Health Laboratory, have been selected as two new members for the ASM board of directors, which give strategic direction to the society.
Leadership has also tapped Diana Vullo, professor of environmental biotechnology at Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento, Diana Waturangi, professor of microbiology at the Faculty of Biotechnology Atma Jaya Catholic University in Indonesia, and Trish Simmer, associate professor of pathology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, to serve on the Council on Microbial Sciences.
